The line's two newest ships, Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, each have 180 suites — more than twice the number found on the vessels Carnival was unveiling a few years ago. Standard stateroom bathrooms have a stand-up shower with a wonderful glass door that cantilevers out of the way when opened. It's a huge improvement over the old-school shower design and that clingy curtain that's the butt of so many shipboard comics.
Inside cabins on Carnival Cruise Line ships
I would say that a Porthole cabin isn’t worth paying any extra for compared to a standard Interior. Yes, you do get a tiny bit of natural light, but the thickness of the walls means that the amount is limited, as is the view. Porthole cabins are available on almost all Carnival ships – the exceptions are Spirit Class ships (Carnival Spirit, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Legend and Carnival Pride) and the newer Excel Class.

After a day, and night of fun and kid-friendly dining, head back to a comfy stateroom that suits your family. Whether you’re cruising as a single parent or times two with kids in tow, you’ll effortlessly pack in more fun activities and bonding time than you ever thought possible on vacation. No matter what age your kids, there’s plenty of onboard entertainment that lets your family interact with favorite childhood characters and games. Embarking on a Carnival Cruise is a gateway to a world of adventure, relaxation, and enchantment. From the moment you step onboard, your stateroom becomes your haven at sea, providing comfort, privacy, and an immersive vacation experience. One of the unique features of Carnival Cruise staterooms is the attention to detail that sets them apart from other cruise lines.
Extended Balcony
Carnival Cruise staterooms are thoughtfully designed to maximize space and provide a welcoming atmosphere. The designs vary from traditional and elegant to modern and contemporary, with attention to detail and comfort in mind. The color schemes and furnishings are carefully chosen to create a cozy and relaxing ambiance. The new Loft 19 enclave found on both Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration offers full bar service, a private pool surrounded by sun loungers and cabanas available for rent.

Eighty-two staterooms in varying categories have handicap accessible bathrooms with a wide door for wheelchairs, an unfolding seat and a shower with wheelchair level sink and controls, as well as ramps where necessary. My stateroom also had a large desktop framed with a semi-circular vanity mirror that illuminates, a shelf above the desktop and additional drawers in the desk for storage. Look under the bed – There’s tons of extra storage space under the bed. Unpack your suitcase – It’s the best way to stay organized and gives you more space too.

It’s not worth making yourself feel uncomfortable just to save some money. The Havana Pool area has an exclusive swimming pool, two large hot tubs and a relaxation area with umbrellas, palm trees and comfy seating. There’s also the Havana Bar – this is open to all guests, not just those in Havana rooms.
If you want a little more space, Havana Suites are also available – and those can also be enjoyed on Excel-class ships too as well as Vista-class. Family Harbor Balcony staterooms are only available on Vista-class ships – Carnival Vista, Carnival Horizon and Carnival Panorama. But, if you like the Family Harbor concept, some of the other ships instead have Family Harbor Interior rooms, Family Harbor Ocean View rooms or Family Harbor Suites. On Carnival Miracle and Carnival Spirit, you can choose between a Premium or standard Balcony room if you’re happy to have one with an obstructed view. On Carnival Legend it’s only the Premium Balcony rooms where some have an obstructed view. If you have health or mobility challenges, Carnival proudly welcomes you on board.
Ocean View
Conducting research, reading reviews, and consulting with travel experts can also provide valuable insights to assist you in making an informed decision. These are just some of the features and amenities you can expect to find in a Carnival Cruise stateroom. The goal is to provide you with a comfortable and convenient space that feels like your own personal retreat at sea.
Should You Book A Balcony Room on a Carnival Cruise?
If having a Balcony is an absolute must, then think about how much space you’ll want. A Suite could be a better choice, and you’ll get some extra perks too. Be careful though, not all Suites have balconies, some have windows or a lanai patio area, so be sure to study the Carnival website to know exactly what you’re getting. Shore excursions with no minimum age limits let you customize experiences for the entire family to enjoy, such as cruising to Alaska and going on a Dog Sled Discovery and Mushing Camp adventure.
If you look thru the above list you can quickly see that these are only on the Destiny and Triumph class and have bunk beds. It is one of the most expensive stateroom categories on the cruise ship. There are a variety of suite classes, from a Junior Suite, Ocean Suite, to a Grand Suite, and on the newer ships, Family Harbor Suites. The number one reason that people choose to book an Interior cabin on a cruise is to save money. And for that reason, I don’t think there’s such a thing as a ‘bad’ Interior cabin on a Carnival cruise. The priority bookings for the other Cloud 9 Spa services only apply on day one – you can book for any point during the cruise, but once 6 pm hits on embarkation day those slots open up to all guests.
One major caveat, however, is that Carnival does not offer single cabins, so those going solo have to pay a supplement. With two twin beds pushed together to make a king bed, a couch that converted to a single bed for Molly and a hidden bed for Maggie that was stored in the ceiling – the sleeping arrangements worked great for our family. The girls loved having bunk beds and I loved that our wonderful stateroom steward, Kate, took fantastic care of us each day. Otherwise, the room is a fairly standard Interior layout and will have two twin beds that can be converted into a King, as well as some rooms having extra Pullmans or sofa beds for kids. A Porthole stateroom (category code PT) on a Carnival cruise is still classed as an Interior room, despite the fact that you’re getting a (limited) view of the ocean. These rooms have twin round windows that are small, but do allow some natural light into the room.

And like all suites, a Cloud 9 Spa Suite features VIP check-in, which lets you easily get right up to your amazing stateroom. Regardless of the type of stateroom you choose, Carnival Cruise ensures that every accommodation is equipped with an array of features and amenities to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Whether you choose an interior stateroom or a luxurious suite, you can expect the highest standards of cleanliness and upkeep.
On each side of the mirror, there are three small shelves that provide additional storage space. Toiletries included in each bathroom include bar soap on the vanity, and shower gel and shampoo in the shower. Relax in your own personal outdoor oasis… designed for maximum sea breeze and the most stunning views. Design is more than just the way things look — it’s as much about how they work. And staterooms aboard Mardi Gras are packed with innovative changes to both.
It may be the lifeboats, or in the case of Interior cabins with a window, it may be the walkway around the edge of the ship. A Premium Vista Balcony stateroom ( category 9C) is situated at the aft of the ship, wrapping around the corner. The stateroom is still a standard size, but the balcony is larger, giving you some great views towards the aft of the ship as well as the side. An Extended Balcony stateroom (8J, 8K, 8L, 8M and 8N) on a Carnival ship is one where the room is the same as a standard Balcony but the actual balcony space is larger. How much larger varies – some offer just 2 square feet more, while others have over 40 square feet more space outside. From an old college friend gathering to a ladies-only birthday bash or golfing buddy getaway, cruise ships are the perfect place for group vacations.
That's the same size as the interior area of some oceanview and most balcony cabins on the ship (not including the extra square footage from the balcony). These 1,120-square-foot abodes, the largest on the ship, have a dining nook, a large living room with sectional sofas and a flatscreen television, a separate bedroom and a large bathroom with twin sinks. The balcony is framed in tall glass panes that shelter it from high winds while the ship is at sea and it even has a Jacuzzi and rainforest shower along with cushioned loungers and cabana style seating. Carnival Cruise offers a diverse range of stateroom options to suit every traveler’s preferences and budget. A Carnival Excel Suite aboard Mardi Gras is the kind of room that proves that vacation and comfort go hand-in-hand.
The view you get is pretty limited, especially as the portholes are quite thick – you don’t get a good viewing angle. But it’s something at least, and even though they’re small you can at least peek out to see the ocean while you’re sailing and see if it’s sunny or raining. So, if you’re someone who isn’t too fussed for a full view but likes the idea of sitting outside still, then they could be perfect.
